How do I post a video in the JAM SPACE?

The actual process of sharing a video in the JAM SPACE is fairly straightforward.

You will record your video, upload it to a free service online, and then paste the share link into a post in the JAM SPACE.

You will either need a Dropbox, Google Drive, or YouTube account, which will store the video file you created.

All of these are free of charge and can be accessed from either your computer, tablet, or smartphone.

I recommend you sign up for all 3 as there are benefits to each method.

Posting a YouTube link

Record your video and upload it to YouTube.

After you've uploaded your video, copy the YouTube URL which is the link to the video.

Next, create a new thread and give it a title describing the video (i.e. Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit progress video).

Next, return to the JAM SPACE and click the dot dot dot button in the top panel:

Next, select Media:

A dialog box will pop up:

Paste the link to your video in the box and hit CONTINUE:

Finally click the POST THREAD button at the bottom of the page:

Congrats! Your video will be posted in the JAM SPACE.

The advantage of posting a video via YouTube is that you have unlimited storage and you can embed the video directly into a post, so it can be played directly from the JAM SPACE, without having to visit another site.

The disadvantage of posting a video via YouTube is depending on if you're posting a video where you're playing along with a record, sometimes the video might get blocked by YouTube in some or all countries (i.e. the copyright music will be muted).

This doesn't happen all the time, but often enough that you'll want to have a Dropbox/Google Drive account as a backup.

In summary, if you are recording videos of you playing WITHOUT a record in the background, then YouTube would be the best place to upload your video.

Posting a Dropbox or Google Drive link

Record your video and upload it to your Dropbox or Google Drive account.

After you've uploaded your video, copy the share link on Dropbox or Google Drive.

Next, create a new thread and give it a title describing the video (i.e. Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit progress video).

Finally, paste your share link in the message along with any addition info about the post and click POST THREAD to post it.

The advantage of Dropbox and Google Drive is that you can post your progress videos without getting blocked or having the music muted.

The disadvantage to using Dropbox and Google Drive is you have to paste the link into a post and viewers will have to leave the JAM SPACE temporarily your video won't play directly in the JAM SPACE. This isn't a big deal.

The other disadvantage about using Dropbox and Google Drive is there isn't as much space as with YouTube, so you'll either have to create more accounts if you run out of space or subscribe to a larger account, which is from about $2-10 per month.

This shouldn't be a problem at first as you'll have 2GB with Dropbox and 15GB with Google Drive absolutely free.

I suggest keeping the files as short as possible and shooting on your phone with a non-HD setting (i.e. 720p) to keep the file size lower.

VIDEO UPLOADS COMING SOON TO THE JAM SPACE

Testing is being completed on a new feature where you can upload files directly to the JAM SPACE, which will save a step or two.

This feature will be available to PRO and VIP members and the videos will be playable directly in the post (like YouTube videos).

Stay tuned for more details.
